Kate Simko
One of American dance music’s most pivotal artists of the past couple decades, Kate Simko is an electronic music producer, film composer, live performer, and DJ. Shining through with her modern Chicago-influenced sound, Kate’s music reflects London’s underground sounds as well her musical background in classical piano and jazz.
Kate was welcomed into the dance music scene via the iconic Spectral Sound label alongside Matthew Dear, Ryan Elliot, Seth Troxler, Mike Servito, and Benoit & Sergio. Since then her catalogue has grown to include releases on Get Physical, Nervous Records, The Vinyl Factory, Leftroom, No.19, Definitive Recordings, and Sasha’s Last Night On Earth imprint.
Whether remixing Philip Glass to Guy Gerber, or creating an electronic-orchestral album with Jamie Jones, Kate pushes the boundaries of dance music. Named one of Chicago’s “Top 10 DJs” by XLR8R Magazine, Kate has performed at some of the world’s top spots such as Berghain, Panorama Bar, Warung, fabric, Brooklyn Mirage, the Montreal Jazz Festival, Movement Festival, MUTEK, Eleven in Tokyo and Fuse in Brussels.
Kate began DJing with an all-vinyl show on WNUR radio in Chicago and went on to become a resident DJ at the city’s legendary club Smart Bar.
Her main influences as a DJ are Chicago and Detroit heritage, mixed with other raw, jackin’ and cutting tracks from across the globe. Since moving to London Kate launched her live band London Electronic Orchestra, featuring harp, strings, and Kate on keys, with the debut album ‘Kate Simko & London Electronic Orchestra’ released to critical acclaim. Melodic, driving, jacking and funky, Kate’s distinctive sound continues to inspire dance floors across the globe.
